The potential of the office registration and reference tools (alphabets, desktop registers, books (registers) of incoming and outgoing correspondence, invalid delivery inventories) as additional archival finding aids is shown; the possibilities of their use for the reconstruction of the composition and, in some cases, the content of lost archival folders are described based on the practice of the Russian State Historical Archive and a number of other archival institutions.

The quality of finding aids in the departmental archive of the COMECON created in the Soviet period for the documents of this international organization fonds, which is now stored in the Russian State Archive of Economics (RGAE), is analyzed. The work of RGAE on creation of an electronic database that includes the main documents of the COMECON Secretariat, its main executive body, (10 578 files included in 68 inventories) is shown.

Preparation of documentary publications by the State Archive of the Republic of Mari El to the 100th anniversary of the statehood of the Mari people, A.N. Sergeeva
The article describes the experience of the State Archive of the Republic of Mari El in preparing three collections of documents characterizing the history of the formation of the autonomous region of the Mari people, the activities of its revkom, the fight against hunger in the first half of the 1920s, which were revealed in the archives and museums of the republic and in the federal state archives.

The activities of one of the most prominent figures in the history of archives of Udmurtia of the XX century D.A. Schekotovich, who worked from 1927 to 1935 in the Central Archive of the Red Army, from 1935 to 1940 – in the Central Military Historical Archive, from 1941 to 1943 headed the Central State Archive of the Udmurt ASSR and from 1943 to 1959 – the archival department of the NKVD–MVD of the UASSR, are elucidated based on the materials stored in the Central State Archive of the Udmurt Republic.

The article shows the history of the formation of the personal fonds of D.A. Granin in TsGALI of St. Petersburg, who became a symbol of the city and its tragic history, and the participation of the writer in this process. The composition of the fonds’ documents, some of which were included in the «Blockade Book» created in collaboration with A.M. Adamovich, is presented. The work on the use of the fonds’ documents (exhibitions, publications), which received an impetus in 2019 in connection with the 100th anniversary of Granin, is elucidated.
