Based on the 68 minutes of the circle’s meetings from June 14, 1920 to April 18, 1924, preserved in the St. Petersburg branch of the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the history of its activities, the desire to preserve non-partisanship and independence from official authori-ties, including the Glavarchiv, are analyzed; the contribution of Petrograd archivists to the development of theoretical issues of archival science are shown.

The experience of law enforcement practice accumulated since 2014 by the Archives admini-stration of the Government of the Yaroslavl region is summarized. It is proposed to legislate an exhaustive list of types of state control (supervision) at the levels of its implementation, as well as criteria for which the powers of the Russian Federation in the field of federal state control (supervision) can be delegated to the regional level by concluding agreements between the Federation and the subjects on the basis of decisions taken by the President of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Russian Federation.

The article presents a set of documents from the RGASPI fonds included in the Rosarkhiv project «Crimes of the Nazis and their accomplices against the civilian population of the USSR during the Great Patriotic war of 1941–1945», which reflects the adoption of political decisions on the prosecution of war criminals, the organization of judicial and investigative proceedings, and the personal role of the Soviet party and state leadership in these issues.

The article considers a set of archival documents from the RGANI and RGALI fonds related to the rejection of the manuscript of the novel by the editorial board of the journal «Znamya» in December, 1960 for ideological reasons, which was later seized by state security officers. A number of documents (notes of the Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee M.A. Suslov, a version of Grossman’s letter to N.S. Khrushchev, and the protocol of the search in the writer’s apartment) are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time.

The full text of one of the unique monuments of the Russian chronicles of the XVII century, partially introduced into scientific circulation by M.N. Tikhomirov and entitled by the acade-mician as «Memorial records of a clerk», is published for the first time. This publication establishes that the chronicle was compiled by two areal clerks, descendants of the nobleman Grigory Shanturov, who were not in the staff of the Moscow Prikazes, and reflects the events from 1646 to 1696.
